Product Note

All of our handcrafted furniture is built with pride by our skilled craftsmen. You may notice a range of natural slit-like cracks to larger/richer cracks that run the length of the log to the heart of the wood. This normal process is known as "checking" and does not affect the structural performance or integrity of the piece. These cracks add character and enhance the natural beauty of the piece.

Cracks or checking of the logs

Checking is normal and expected in all of our white cedar logs. It does not affect the strength of the log and is not covered under warranty as it is a natural process.

Drips from Varnishing

All of our products are dipped in stain first, then in varnish. Our craftsmen and women wipe away the extra varnish once or twice during the finishing process. All remaining drips should be on the “B” (the underside or backside of the piece, the part unseen when looking at the furniture surface(s).

Tracks in the log

Our machinery sometimes leaves tracks in the logs as the material is pushed/pulled through the feed rollers. These tracks are lessened when our pieces are sanded but will not be completely eliminated. When building our furniture, it is our goal to position the logs in such a way that these remaining track marks are on the “B” surfaces as mentioned above.
